Working in ABA Therapy
Q: How do I get started working with ABA therapy for autism?
A: If you’re passionate about helping children, getting started with a career in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is more accessible than you might think.
For many, a career in ABA begins as a Behavior Technician (BT). In this critical, entry-level role, you will work directly with children on the autism spectrum to help them build essential life skills, reach developmental milestones, and grow with confidence. This hands-on work is grounded in compassion, patience, and progress and the only requirement to begin is a high school diploma, a passion for working with children, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Prior experience working with children is preferred.
When you join the Brighter Strides team as an BT, we provide mentorship, ongoing support, and career advancement opportunities. From supportive guidance and supervision for completing the 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course—to internal opportunities for advancement, we support your professional growth every step of the way.

Q: What training is provided for RBTs?
A: When you join Brighter Strides ABA as a new Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), we provide robust onboarding, multiple in-house training sessions, and the oversight of highly qualified Center Directors. Our BCBAs supervise and collaborate on your delivery of ABA techniques and strategies, becoming mentors in the process.
Q: What qualifications do I need to become a BCBA at your organization?
A: To be considered for a BCBA position at Brighter Strides, you must have completed a master’s degree in behavior analysis, education, or psychology, fulfilled supervised fieldwork requirements, and passed the BCBA exam. You must also hold current certification through the BACB.
Q: Do you offer supervision for those pursuing BCBA certification?
A: Yes! Through our Brighter Minds Fellowship (BMF) program we offer high-quality, BACB-compliant supervision with structured feedback, skill-building opportunities, and diverse client experiences to support you through your fieldwork journey. Specifically designed for employees actively seeking fieldwork supervision through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) with the intention of obtaining certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the BMF plays a major supporting role in the Supervisor-Fellow relationship in a myriad of ways, including tracking Fellow progress and skill acquisition throughout the fieldwork supervision process, ensuring Fellows are matched with eligible fieldwork supervisors, and providing fieldwork experience, assignments, and supervision opportunities to all Fellowship members.
Q: What career paths are open to me in the field of ABA?
A: ABA therapy offers a variety of rewarding career pathways, from entry-level roles like Behavior Technician or RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) to advanced positions such as BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), Center Manager, or Regional Director of Clinical Services. Many professionals begin as technicians while completing graduate coursework, then progress into supervisory or specialty roles in areas like early intervention, school consultation, or parent training. The rewarding field of ABA therapy supports continuous growth through certification, mentorship, and leadership development.

Clinical Approach
Q: What populations and settings do your BCBAs work with?
A: Though we primarily work with children on the autism spectrum, ages 3 to 15, we work with kids with a range of neurodivergent conditions starting at 18 months through adolescence. Our BCBAs and RBTs support clients across a range of settings including in home, center, school, and community settings including daycares.
Our innovative organizational structure allows us to provide in-home ABA therapy services for families even in remote locations and at nine centers located across the country, we offer a range of center-based services including early intervention, social skills groups, and diagnostic evaluations.
Q: How do you monitor clinical quality and integrity?
A: We maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence through internal audits, peer reviews, ongoing training, and clinical oversight. Evidence-based practice and ethical care are at the heart of everything we do. Brighter Strides ABA is certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and meets all requirements set by the state regulatory bodies in the areas we serve, following the BACB model. All of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) are fully credentialed and committed to delivering the highest standard of care.
Q: How are caseloads assigned?
A: Caseloads are assigned based on a variety of factors including clinician experience, client needs, and a clinician’s areas of interest or clinical strengths. We emphasize manageable workloads both to ensure every client receives high-quality, individualized care and a supportive, sustainable environment where each member of the team can thrive professionally and personally.
Q: What is the expectation for BCBAs and administrative tasks?
A: While they oversee key aspects of ABA service delivery that do require some ongoing administration—including assessments, treatment planning, data analysis, supervision, and family training—our BCBAs are not responsible for general administrative tasks. Our organizational structure is designed to support a BCBA’s focus on clinical excellence, rather than the administrative burden. With dedicated administrative and operational teams handling scheduling, billing, and other non-clinical responsibilities, Brighter Strides BCBAs can concentrate on delivering exceptional care and clinical leadership.
Q: Can I focus on specific interests, like early intervention or parent training?
A: Yes. We encourage our clinicians to grow within areas that align with their passions and expertise. In select locations, we offer early intervention programs, daycare support, and afterschool programs which allow therapists to focus on select age groups. We also offer opportunities to develop programs or lead initiatives in specialized domains.
Q: How do you operate as a team without a central clinical location?
A: Through an interconnected network of dedicated clinicians, administrators, and local therapy providers—Brighter Strides ABA is able to offer in-home ABA therapy across the country. Although much of our work is done directly in clients’ homes, we operate as a connected and collaborative team. Through regular check-ins, virtual team meetings, shared treatment planning, and open communication, our clinicians stay closely aligned.
Even in areas without a brick-and-mortar center location, we support one another, share expertise, and work together to ensure every child receives consistent, high-quality care.

Part of the interview conversation is designed to determine our alignment on values and discuss your career growth goals. The process is designed to be honest, direct, and informative—both for our hiring managers and for our prospective employees. We believe that treating the interview process as an open, two-way conversation allows everyone to make the most informed decision.
